Cork now open!

Component Distributors would like to formally announce the opening of a new regional distribution centre in Cork.

Our customers in Cork, Waterford, Limerick, Kerry and some areas of Tipperary will all now receive their deliveries twice a day by one of the 37 CD delivery vehicles on the roads.

We are investing heavily in getting our stock closer to our customers by committing to 20,000 sq ft of warehousing space, strategically located just off the South Ring in Cork, on the Tramore Rd.

Initially employing 17 people, this site will avail of our recent agreement with Mercedes-Benz commercial to buy an additional 11 Mercedes Sprinter vans. 

This significant investment highlights Component Distributors' commitment to servicing Ireland's best motor factors with increased availability and service.

Beware of dangerous fake car parts

Trading Standards are warning traders and consumers to be extremely vigilant when purchasing car parts following a recent seizure of unsafe counterfeit brake pads.

The brake pads, branded as Volkswagen, SEAT, Skoda and Audi were seized at properties in Belfast and Armagh following a tip-off from the Volkswagen group.

New Competition Law Rules

 

On 27 May 2010, and only five days before the expiry of the Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation 1400/2002 (MVBER 1400/2002), Commissioner Almunia has announced the adoption of new competition law instruments for the automotive sector. This new legal framework, to be applied as of the 1st June 2010, is composed of a Block Exemption Regulation focusing on the Aftermarket accompanied by sector-specific Guidelines intended to provide guidance to the market operators.

ADF is now IAAF

 

The start of the new decade heralds one of the most important developments in recent years for the UK automotive aftermarket, with the launch of the industry’s new umbrella organisation, the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation. The IAAF has evolved out of the Automotive Distribution Federation (ADF) – the organisation that has long been representing and championing the interests of the distribution sector of the UK independent aftermarket– but the IAAF has been structured in such a way as to encompass the interests of the wider aftermarket.

Dayco 2010 Automotive Catalogue

Dayco extends its product offering with the issue of their new 2010 automotive catalogue. One of the strong points of this catalogue is the introduction of the new range of timing tensioners. Since July 2009 these items can be purchased individually. There are over 3000 part numbers listed in the Dayco Automotive catalogue, of which 608 are kits – Timing belt kits/Timing belt kits including water pump. There are over 1000 codes of tensioners designed for primary and auxiliary drives. These products means that Dayco cover more than 97% of the European operating fleet.

The catalogue can be downloaded from our catalogues section and can be accessed online.
